The Archon indeed predicts the future, unless time flows differently between realms so Death would be able to explore the Demon realm (present and past) and restore human souls in the Well while War is fighting the Destroyer, but this wouldn't make that much sense to me. Nothing implies it'll be restored on Earth, it could be restored in a new realm for all we know. Considering Death finds one of Strife's guns on his way (and War finds the other one on his own much later), we can assume his journey takes place after Strife's part of the story (I don't see him willingly leaving his guns behind so he's probably dead too, we know death isn't really a problem for the Horsemen once the seals are broken anyway).Ībout his sacrifice, we don't know for sure how humanity is restored.

All we know is that Death was "missing" at the start of Darksiders 3, most likely already on his trip (but who knows where he was precisely, maybe just on his way to the Crowfather).

Not on their own, at the very least.ĭarksiders 2 takes place some time during War's imprisonment, no specific date as far as I remember. They'll soon go extinct, demons swarm the Earth, humans don't stand a chance. It's just that the storyline takes place as DS3>DS2>DS1 and this is why you're confused, when War comes to Earth, there are no survivors left.Īs a reminder, War was imprisonned for roughly a century (said at the start of the game, after returning to Earth).ĭarksiders 3 takes place roughly 10 years after the Apocalypse (saw that a few times on the forum, makes sense too to be honest), there are still a few humans around, just a few survivors. In conclusion, no you did not miss anything. I'm pretty sure that during the century gap, Ulthane saved a lot of survivors that he could find, the rest became Zombies. The only humans that survived are the ones saved by Ulthane in DS3. What became of those humans (and those that died before them) are the Wicked (Zombies) and The Swarm although they don't appear in DS1. Now when War returns after a century, we can see that there are no human's left. Death wipes the floor with Belial and like the bad ass he is and ends the human survivor's life on his own request. Death asks "You said US - there are others"?, to which the human says he's not sure, although when Death asks him how did he survive, he said that he "sold his soul to Belial" and gave up the location of other survivors to the Demon Lord. Death asks "How can it be that humans still live"?, to which the human reply's that demons can be avoided and that the demons are not that all powerful as they would have US believe. Death then goes around to find a human survivor with a sniper rifle. Death doubts this statement but Uriel says she is not bound to lies. In the DLC of DS2, the "Demon Lord Belial", when Death goes to Earth, he speaks with Uriel and she tells him that there are human survivors left, spotted by the Hellguard. I'm guessing that Strife knew where Death would go. My guess is that the guy with Ulthane that's shown in DS3 was given the pistol by Strife to take it to the Forge Lands to leave it there so that Death may find it.

So DS3 ends before Death ending up in the Forge Lands. Death asks "How did the pistol came here"? to which Alya reply's that she doesn't know. I would assume that by the time Death makes it to the Forge Lands, Redemption is given to Death by Alya after completing the Fire of the Mountain. What the Archon saw, was Abaddon in the Future, the time where DS1 takes place.ĭS2 takes place after DS3. Most humans that survive live on their own (maybe some work in groups?) because they would tend to kill each other if it comes to betrail or because of other reaons, because they live in a post apocalyptic world. DS3 occurs just after War's imprisonment, this is why there are human survivors.
